Recall of Odor-Eaters Spray Powder For Benzene
Impacts 41 lots of the footcare product in the US.

Footcare brand Odor-Eaters, which is owned by Blistex Inc., is voluntarily recalling a total of 41 lots of two Odor-Eaters spray products to the consumer level due to the presence of benzene. Internal testing identified low levels of benzene contamination in specific lots of these aerosol products, according to the company.
Odor-Eaters had not received any reports of adverse events related to this recall as of Nov. 17, 2021, when the announcement was made.
The affected Odor-Eaters spray products are used as antifungal and foot odor-reducing agents and are packaged in aerosol cans.
The list of the lots can be founded here on the US FDA website.The products were distributed nationwide in the United States through various retailers.
The brand is notifying its retailers and distributors by letter and is arranging for returns of all voluntarily recalled lots of spray products. Consumers, distributors, and retailers that have product which is being recalled should stop using or selling these specific Odor-Eaters® spray products and dispose of them appropriately.
The brand created a website for consumers, www.odoreatersrecall2021.com,where they can request a product refund. It also has information on the products recalled, product images and lot information.
A similar announcement was made in Canada. There, Blistex Corporation has recalled three lots of Odor-Eaters Spray Powder (D20C04, D20K13 and D21H03) due to contamination with benzene.A recently expired lot (D19K22) was also tested by the company and found to contain benzene above acceptable levels, according to Health Canada.
Low levels of benzene have also been found in some spray sunscreen products, which some experts attribute to issues with the alcohol supply chain.
